Loy Sing Meat Market is a remarkable fixture in Victoria’s culinary and cultural heritage, having served the community since 1889—making it the longest continuously operating Chinese business in North America! Owners Daniel Zheng and Shelly Rong carried on Loy Sing’s legacy for nearly 30 years, using the business to support their family and maintain deep roots in the community. In recent years, the business changed hands—new owners Zhen Zeng and Qiu Heu have taken over, committed to preserving the shop’s beloved recipes and rituals, including the use of its original century-old brick roaster and daily whole-pig roasting tradition! Today, Loy Sing remains a go-to destination for both locals and visitors craving flavorful, traditional Chinese BBQ meats in a nostalgic, storied setting.
