The Tour Begins…

We start the tour at the historic Hudson Bay Building. Completed in 1922, this iconic building is now the home of the bustling Victoria Public Market. Here we will get a tour of the market that includes a coffee from a local roaster, a savoury hand pie from Victoria Pie Co. and a traditional arancini from La Pasta. We then make our way to historic Chinatown where we visit the Chinese Public School and explore the vibrant culinary scene along colourful Fisgard Street.

The Tour Continues…

After passing under the Gates of Harmonious Interest we stop at Wai Lai Yeun for a traditional baked Char Sui bun. A savory pork bun with a hint of sweetness baked fresh everyday. We then visit Maiiz Nixtamal where chef Israel makes his handmade tortillas using local BC corn. After picking up a bag of Honey Butter Chips from a local grocer, we head to Market Square. Here we will try some local craft beer from Whistle Buoy Brewery paired with the chips. Did you know that Victoria is considered the craft beer cradle of Canada and we have some of the oldest craft breweries in our country? After sipping some beers (or locally made sodas) we head to Fan Tan alley to finish the tour with a sweet stop at a beautiful French-inspired bakery.
