Once you have purchased and download the tour the chocolate journey begins from our gift shop at 470 Belleville Street for a complimentary sweet treat, a local delicacy called a Nanaimo Bar. From here we take you on a guided journey along the inner harbor and up Government street past multiple iconic chocolate shops including Rogers’ Chocolates and Chocolats Favoris. Hear stories about The Empress, The Legislature, artist Emily Carr, and more!
Time to eat chocolate…
From there the tour will meander past multple historic places of worship including St. Andrew’s Pesbyterian Church, Christ Church Cathedral, and St. Andrew’s Catholic Catherdral. Learn more about the architecture and hear stories about their history. The tour also has plenty of suggestions on where to find the best chocolate treats including Bon Macaron, Flourish BeauTea, La Taquisa, Chocolate & Co, Crust Bakery, The Dutch Bakery and much more! Guests enjoy exclusive discounts at participating stops.

How long does the tour take?
We suggest planning for a 2-hour experience if you do the tour all at once. However you could speed up the tour or take your time.
Does the APP work on any cell phone?
Yes, the APP will work on both Apple devices and Android phones. If you have an Apple phone, please note that you will need to know your Apple ID in order to download the APP.
Will I need WIFI to use the APP?
No. Once you have downloaded the APP and added the tour, your phone uses GPS to locate you and play the tour. We do have free WIFI at our kiosk – you will need WIFI in order to initially download the APP.
Do I have to do the tour all at once?
No! You are welcome to start and stop the tour at your own time and pace. The tour remains on your phone until you decide to delete the APP.
What's included in the cost?
The cost includes the 2-hour history tour narrated by a local guide. It also includes our foodie recommendations to various restaurants as well as discounts at participating stops. The cost also includes one free foodie sample at the Off The Eaten Track gift shop.
Can you share the tour?
Yes. You are welcome to download the tour on to one phone and listen to it with other people.
What sights will I see?

How much walking is there?
This tour is roughly 2KM of light walking. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and dressing for the weather.
Are tours offered only in English?
Currently our self-guided tours are only offered in English however we are working on having them translated into a few more languages for 2023.
